This is my little girl, who was born on June 1st 2012. She spent a little over a month in the hospital and was eventually sent home with a feeding tube in her nose, which you can see in the photo. As of now she has pulled out the nose tube and I haven't gone back to replace it. I want to see how she does without it. After many tests we are still unsure as to why she doesn't feed as well as she should and why her neck muscles are weaker than normal, but she is still a healthy beautiful girl and I love having her, and so does her big brother Seth :)

My son was born the same day and we thought we may have to do the same with him because he weighed 5 lbs and 9 oz when born and drastically dropped weight his first week and a half home. Found out it was because I was not producing enough milk to nurse him. Once we realized what was happening, we began bottle feeding him (I never could nurse, it just wasn't happening) and he's now a healthy 10 pounds (maybe more since last Thursday).
I hope your little girl is doing well and on the road to be a happy, healthy baby...

she's doing pretty well, though her weight gain is slower, only gaining around 2 pounds since birth, though she did drop and have to gain the weight back, so now she is 12 pounds, and I hope growing! We still struggle with feeding her but I basically had to modify her formula so that it was more concentrated so she gets more calories even with smaller feeds. So far so good and I'm happy not to have to worry about her pulling out the feeding tube. The only issue is there is a lot more stress when it comes to taking care of her so I don't get much free time since I always have to make sure she's feeding well etc. I'm hopeful though that she'll improve with time.

Me too. Parenting is very hard, but so worth the rewards. I am happy to hear she doing well with her feedings. It's always better to do what YOU feel is right for the health of your child. My mom said to never use a pacifier, but he's content with it and it keeps him from overfeeding and throwing up because he has an oral fixation right now. Just keep doing what you're doing and we'll both have happy and chubbier babies.

I hear you there! I rely heavily on the pacifier with her because she only feeds when she's in a sleeping state, or when you sneak the bottle in once she's using the pacifier so I pretty much need one all the time! It's tricky but manageable, and you're right it is hard, but when I see her little gummy smile or my son gives me a hug it's all worth it!

Breast feeding was a no go, sad to say, but I did pump as long as I could for her so she at least got some!
